Derek visits the Bright Purple Academy to explore the core capabilities required in Next Generation Organisations to ensure they survive and thrive in this VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) world

With 69% of UK corporates naming innovation within their top three priorities and 75% of CEOs saying fast-changing market conditions are forcing companies to reinvent themselves quicker than ever before, innovation has moved from being a nice to have to being a strategic imperative which transforms organisations and enables them to become market leaders and shapers of the future.

In this session we will explore the core capabilities required in a Next Generation Organisations to ensure you survive and thrive in this VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) world which is now the norm.  With larger organisations finding it a challenge to quickly build a culture of innovation due to the scale of change required and the pace of at which they can transform themselves, we will explore what opportunity this presents for the more nimble SME business and what you can do to seize this opportunity….. building your own culture of innovation for growth.

The session will be based on the research, framework and experiences captured in the book ‘Building a Culture of Innovation – A Practical Framework for Placing Innovation at the Core of Your Business’ of which Derek Bishop is a co-author.  Like the book, this session will be practical in its messages and application – this is about what to do not why innovative cultures are important.

About the book

The book outlines a core methodology for creating and harnessing the prerequisites for innovation, entrepreneurship and contemporary leadership and serves as a pragmatic roadmap for businesses to follow in order to drive growth through innovation.  The book is an Amazon best seller and is in the 2017 top 5 management books on innovation, as judged in the CMI Management Book of the Year awards.

A couple of endorsements from the book include:

“Not just another innovation book but an essential practical guide for anyone who is looking for the framework to move from talking about innovation in the workplace to actually making it a reality.”
