To create game changing results, innovation has to be seen not just as a bolt on extra but rather as an intrinsic part of organisational culture
Why do organisations need a culture of innovation; what’s wrong with just inventing stuff? Well there is nothing wrong with simple invention; but without innovation you run the risk of inventions being a finite process; and without a culture of innovation running through the business, organisations cannot hope to maximise their potential.
To create game changing results, innovation has to be seen not just as a bolt on extra but rather as an intrinsic part of organisational culture. And a strong and innovative culture is the best defence which a business can have in a rapidly changing technological world. But there is still a measure of confusion on the part of business leaders as to how they should go about instilling a culture of innovation within their own organisation.
To address this, Cris Beswick, Derek Bishop and Jo Geraghty have combined their innovation, leadership, organisational culture and employee engagement skills to write a book which seeks to deliver a practical framework for placing innovation at the core of business.
Commenting on the importance of organisational culture as a driving force Jo Geraghty said: “If you are looking for high levels of employee engagement and great customer service, if you want to attract talented people and loyal investors, if your strategy looks to deliver market-leading performance allied to strong profits then it’s time to pay attention to organisational culture.”
With a global reputation as an expert in building high performance cultures, Jo specializes in working with CEOs and leadership teams of global organisations operating in large, complex and regulated environments; helping to deliver sustainable performance improvements through successful organisational culture change. She is also a speaker on high-performance leadership and organizational culture.
Building a Culture of Innovation is being published by Kogan Page on 3rd December and is now available for pre-order.
