The climax of the 2015 6 Nations tournament will go down in the annals of rugby folklore as the day in which the call went out and the teams delivered. Coming into the final day any one of four teams could have triumphed, although France was more of a mathematical outsider. Wales too were very much third favourites, having to gather a mountain of points before they could even come on terms with the top two. But nothing shatters the Welsh spirit and they went all out for glory, easily overcoming their deficit and setting a target which challenged and stretched their rivals.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained and the following two matches saw Ireland and England pile on the pressure and pile on the points. So surreal was the day that at one stage France was in with a chance of overtaking England in the table, only to be swept aside by relentless determination. In the end the spoils went to Ireland but the ultimate victory belongs to the players from every nation who stepped up to the challenge and delivered fantastic flowing rugby to the delight of the watchers.
On that one day rugby showed just what can be achieved when strong leadership creates committed and unified teams which in their turn are prepared to put everything on the line to deliver success.
