Start with why
Simon Sinek hit the nail on the head: purpose is really significant in business. Companies that succeed in embedding a clear sense of purpose into their culture are significantly more likely to see higher engagement and retention: research from the Josh Bersin Company reveals that companies with a purpose-driven culture are six times more likely to experience high engagement and retention rates.
But nailing purpose can be hard. How can you clearly, succinctly articulate your organisation’s reason for being, so it resonates with employees and customers alike? Will the effort be worth it? How do we ensure it is truly lived, not just words: a mantra on an intranet or signage in reception? And doesn’t the purpose need to be something truly worthy, for the greater good of humanity?
Our e-book: ‘Get the Culture Edge’ contains practical tips about working with purpose and vision, drawn from our many years’ experience in supporting organisations to embed, evolve or transform their culture. And whilst our business is one of many which can’t claim to be about saving the planet, we are totally clear on its purpose: reimagining the world of work.
