Building a culture of Innovation: One Day Overview

“A culture of innovation can be a company’s primary source of competitive advantage, and can pay off steadily over the years” – Stephen Shapiro

Who is it suited for?
This course is suitable for organisational leaders, HR practitioners, Business Students, Academics and all those who are looking to build an understanding of a culture of innovation as a driver of change.

What does it cover?
The course will explore the post-recessionary business landscape and seek to develop an understanding of why innovation culture has become one of the key priorities not only for business leaders but also for those tasked with leading governmental organisations.

As well as building innovation understanding, the course will offer a high level overview of the six steps required to build a culture of innovation. These steps will follow the pathway set out in the book ‘Building a Culture of Innovation’, and will touch on areas such as:

  • carrying out cultural assessments
  • designing the future
  • embedding a culture of innovation.
  • innovation leadership, communication and people engagement
  • building innovation aptitude.

Why build a culture of innovation?
Building a culture of innovation is increasingly being seen by business leaders across the globe as a key deliverer of differentiated customer experiences and solutions. A great culture will not remain a great culture unchallenged. Disrupting one’s own culture can seem irrational when profit margins and market share are high. However, a company that fails to innovate fails to remain competitive. Innovation is the antidote to complacency and stagnation.

Further development?
This is one of the core innovation modules which build on some of the concepts and ideas outlined in ‘Building a culture of innovation: a practical framework for placing innovation at the core of your business.’ Although there is some crossover with areas such as culture change, employee engagement and leadership, the modules within this section are aligned specifically with the innovation culture ideal. This course can be taken as a stand-alone module or combined with other innovation modules including:

  • Leading for innovation
  • Innovation Strategy and Innovation Maturity
  • Taking Your People on the Innovation Journey
  • Understanding the Next Generation Organisation

Depending on the nature of their role, attendees may also wish to explore other concepts offered by The Culture Consultancy School including leadership, culture change and employee engagement.
